This Lavender is a hybrid of True Lavender and Spike Lavender. Lavandin has become popular as the plants are hardier and more resistant to disease, the yield of essential oil is high, it can be grown at low altitudes and the production costs are far less than true lavenders, due to the higher yields. Lavandins are grown from cuttings, as the plants produced are sterile, therefore they do not produce seeds. It has similar amounts of linalool to True Lavender, and slightly higher camphor and cineole as with Spike Lavender.
